Google is testing a new Gmail format that is supposed to make it easier for users to reference previous emails without closing the draft.
The new email layout puts drafts in a small chat-sized popup (read: modal) window.
This layout has not been completely rolled out, but any non-Enterprise Google Apps user can test the feature and roll it back to the current layout if they don’t like it.
How to Try the New Gmail
1 Open a new email draft via the Compose button.
2 Click on “Try out the new compose experience“.
What’s Great About the New Gmail
- Profile Pictures in Contact Lists
- Adjustable Draft Window Size
- New Mail visible while in Draft mode
